FOR LPCs -The West Virginia Board of Examiners in Counseling has pre-approved all courses offered by NBCC CE Providers. We are NBCC CE Provider #6338.
Below is the Board's statement for LPC CE, from Series 3 License Renewal and Continuing Professional Education (Section 5.9) which pre-approves NBCC-approved courses, including the limitation that a maximum of twenty (20) hours of online home study may be submitted within each renewal period.
"5.9. The Board shall grant a maximum of twenty (20) contact hours within each renewal period for home study programs. Only home study programs pre-approved by the National Board for Certified Counselors (NBCC) and the American Counseling Association (ACA) are granted home study program approval."
FOR SOCIAL WORKERS - The West Virginia Board of Social Work Examiners has advised us that CEUs from our online internet courses MAY BE UTILIZED for up to 20 hours, under the 20-hour Category II continuing education allowance for Social Workers (which has been established by the Board for internet education and other professional activities).
Written to us by the WVBSWE: ". . . If internet education, they can use your courses for up to 20 hours under the Category II Individual Professional Activities (IPA) for up to 20 hours if not WVBSWE approved. All of this 20 hour category applies to the total hours needed to renew."
NOTE: When recording our PROVIDER NUMBER for Social Work CE, enter "490000". See excerpt below, from the WV statute re Category II.
Category II - Individual Professional Activities (IPA):
490000 INDIVIDUAL PROFESSIONAL ACTIVITIES (IPA): This category allows the licensee to use a maximum of twenty (20) hours for completing a variety of self-directed activities or education programs that are not WVBSWE approved. You may use this category for a college course that is relevant to social services. Please refer to your Professional Manual for additional information. DO NOT SUBMIT MORE THAN TWENTY (20) HOURS UNDER THE CATEGORY II PROVIDER.
