State Approvals For Louisiana

2.   A counselor may obtain the 40 CEHs through one or more of the options listed below. Effective July 1, 2014 a maximum of 20 CEHs may be obtained through an online format, with the exception of coursework obtained through a regionally accredited institution of higher education.

a.  Continuing Education Approved by Other Organizations. Continuing education that is approved by either the American Counseling Association (ACA), its divisions, regions and state branches, Louisiana Counseling Association (LCA), or the National Board of Certified Counselors (NBCC) will be accepted by the Board of Examiners.

This meets the criteria for acceptable CE as published in the Louisiana State Board of Social Work Examiners' state Administrative Code Title 46 Part XXV, regarding CE Requirements:

Re accepted sources for CE Credit, from the Louisiana publication accessed through the link in the preceding paragraph,  Section 317.(M)(1).  '. . . educational offerings sponsored by or approved by social work licensing bodies, state and national professional social work organizations, and schools accredited by the Council on Social Work Education .....'

We also see that you may take half of your required 20 hours of CE through online internet courses (distance learning).  You can take these required continuing education courses with our Annual Subscription for only $49.  You can then enroll in all of the courses which you wish to take through distance education, at no additional charge.  The subscription is good for an entire year, and there is no limitation as to which courses you may take.  They are all certified by other state social work boards as appropriate for Social Work continuing education.
